Also, ein Mohammedaner hat Ali "vorgeschlagen" eine Mubahila auszutragen, quasi einen Gebetswettstreit. Beide Kontrahenten beten, dass der andere innerhalb von 90 Tagen stirbt. Wer danach noch am leben ist, hat gewonnen. Ali hat zugesagt, aber gleichzeitig gesagt, dass er nicht für den Tod seines Kontrahenten beten wird, sondern für seine Erleuchtung. Mubahila geht zurück auf Sura 3, Vers 61.
